Royals Worried Harry & Meghan Are 'Fragile' Without 'Embrace Of The Family'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Visit Reprezent

The Royal Family is worried about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they establish a new life for themselves in Canada, according to a new report from The Sunday Times of London. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially stepped down as full time working royals and relinquished their HRH titles in order to live a more private life with Archie. Though Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles signed off on the Sussexes' decision, they're reportedly concerned the new arrangement won't work out for Harry and Meghan.

“The palace [is] very worried about the Sussexes, because they are vulnerable outside the embrace of the family,” a source close to the royal household told The Sunday Times. “They are making contingency plans in case the Sussexes suddenly turn round and say: ‘Can we come back under your wing?’”

According to the source, both Prince Charles and Prince William have been “reaching out” to Harry and Meghan to see if they want to return to the United Kingdom instead of staying in Canada. Harry's father and brother are reportedly stressing the Sussexes' would remain free of royal duties if they decided to move back to the U.K. full time, the source explained.

“They are phoning him and trying to talk to him and extending a friendly hand,” the source continued, adding that the phone calls are an attempt to “rebuild the relationship” between Charles, William and Harry. “What is happening is that they are being told that there is love and affection on standby,” the insider said. Though Queen Elizabeth confirmed in her recent statement about all the royal drama that Frogmore cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle will remain Harry and Meghan's U.K. residence, the insider revealed that the palace is offering the Sussexes a number of potential secluded hideaways instead should they want to move back.

“Everybody agrees that this is a fragile couple. Nobody is going to say, no they can’t come back,” the source continued.“They wouldn’t return to royal duties, but they could have a period of rehabilitation and recuperation."

The door remains open for Harry and Meghan to regain their status as full time work royals. The Queen will reportedly revisit their agreement in one year and decide if they will remain abroad as non-royals.
