Chadwick Bosemanâs brother is remembering the last words the Black Panther star spoke to him before his untimely death.
Chadwick passed away at the age of 43 in August following a private four-year battle with colon cancer. During that time, only the actorâs closest friends and family had known about his struggle with the disease, with which he was diagnosed in 2016.
Now, Chadwickâs older brother, Derrick Boseman, is speaking about his final memories with the beloved star.
Speaking with the New York Times, Derrick recalled the heartbreaking conversation he had with the Avengers star in the last moments of his life.
âMan, Iâm in the fourth quarter, and I need you to get me out of the game," the 54-year-old pastor recalled his youngest brother telling him. Derrick said he asked Chadwick what he meant by this, âbut then realized that he was tired. He was ready to go."
âWhen he told me that, I changed my prayer from, âGod heal him, God save him,â to âGod, let your will be done.âAnd the next day he passed away,â he remembered.
Praising his brotherâs talents, Pastor Boseman added, âChad was gifted. Heâs probably the most gifted person Iâve ever met.â
Chadwick's other brother, Lion King dancer Kevin Boseman, also spoke of âtrying to remember Chad and not Chadwick,â and about "sharing" his famous brother with the rest of the world.
âI always endeavored to just treat him like my brother,â Kevin explained. âA lot of people think making it means becoming an A-list movie star. ⊠I just knew that if Chad wanted to work in the arts, he would find a way and take care of himself. He always did his best. His best was incredible.â
